The trial

Bild von David Michael Morris
A demonstration of one of the new training techniques that we were taught on the Network Day. It involves looking at both sides of the argument and is great for generating ideas and thoughts. It could be used in a variety of training sessions.

Veils

Bild von National Library of Ireland on The Commons
A young nun walking Holy Communion girls past no. 3, Halston Street, Dublin on the feast of Corpus Christi. Interesting juxtaposition with the older mini-skirted local girls. The baskets were usually filled with flower petals for the girls to scatter along the way…
Thanks to Phyllis Stice over on our Facebook for allowing us to get to the exact date of 5 June 1969, from the unsatisfactory "sometime in 1969"!

Nuns at the graveside of Major Willie Redmond, M.P.

Bild von National Library of Scotland
Two nuns standing by a graveside, Locre, Belgium, during World War I. Two nuns and three young girls dressed in black stand with their heads bowed at the graveside of Major William Redmond M.P. The grave has been adorned with flowers, including potted geraniums. The Major was mortally wounded during the Battle of Messines (June 1917) and taken to a hospice at nearby Locre, but sadly died soon after. This photograph was taken by the British photographer, John Warwick Brooke.
It was William Redmond’s wish that his grave be located outside the walls of the British military cemetery at Locre – his wish was granted. The request was a direct response to the execution of the leaders of the Easter Rising (1916). As a staunch Nationalist – he was a Member of Parliament prior to leaving for the Western Front – he abhorred the British reaction to the Rising.
